IS THE UK DIVIDED?
Following the riots that rocked our towns and cities in the summer, we are asking this question to provoke debate and to encourage our communities to be more tolerant.
Compensation for affected people and businesses
Homeowners and businesses affected by recent disorder and rioting will be able to claim compensation, even if they did not have insurance. People who experienced loss or damage to their property in Hartlepool, Middlesbrough and Sunderland during the riots may be eligible to claim under the Riot Compensation Scheme. Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner Matt Storey said the claims must be in relation to disorder in Hartlepool on 31 July and Middlesbrough on 4 August. The Northumbria Police and Crime Commissioner Susan Dungworth announced the same compensation scheme for victims of criminal damage in Sunderland caused on 2 August.
Embracing authentic leadership: Finding your unique voice in business
Authentic leadership is not just a buzzword; it's the driving long-term success in any venture. But what does it mean to be an authentic leader, and how can you find your vice in the cacophony of corporate culture?
SUMMER RIOTS
We applaud the government and the police for acting swiftly to bring the perpetrators to justice. In this edition we are asking the question; ‘Is the UK more divided than ever?’ This question does not need a Yes or No answer. It needs all of us to take responsibility and be kind to each other. Again, the debate around the unfathomable power of social media was reignited. Often for good reasons, technology has been incorporated into every facet of daily life, generally making experiences more pleasant.
